COMPUTER BLUE SCREEN ERROR

Hello fans, today am gonna be discussing  about the blue screen error also known as the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) or dump error. As Windows Users, there must be a we encounter the above mentioned error.

What is BSOD?
A blue screen of death is the worst type of error a computer can experience, unlike an application crash, which doesn’t bring down the whole system. A BSOD is the result of low-level software crashing — or faulty hardware. It occurs when Microsoft Windows encounters a critical error it can’t recover from, requiring a reboot and possibly resulting in lost work.

What causes BSOD?
Blue screens are generally caused by problems with your computer’s hardware or issues with its hardware driver software. Standard software shouldn’t be able to cause blue screens — if an application crashes, it will do so without taking the operating system out with it. Blue screens are caused by hardware problems and issues with low-level software running in the Windows kernel.

NOTE: When a blue screen occurs, Windows automatically creates a “minidump” file that contains information about the crash and saves it to your disk. You can view information about these minidumps to help identify the cause of the blue screen.

Another thing is that blue screen automatically shutdown down your computer, by so doing you may not quickly capture the cause of the error. To stop the computer from restarting automatically so that you can troubleshoot the error to know if its hardware or software, kindly follow the steps bellow to disable automatic reboot:

  1. Right-click on the Computer icon on your desktop
  2. Click on properties, you will see the properties screen
  3. Click on Advance System Settings, The Advanced tab should already be selected,
  4. Click the Settings button under “Startup and Recovery”.
  5. Ucheck the option for Automatically restart under the System failure section.
With the above step Next time you get a BSOD you’ll be able to see it and able to write down the error message. You’ll have to manually reboot the computer if this happens, of course.

Tips to solve the BSOD!
BSODs have a variety of root causes, but these tips will help you deal with many blue screens:

  • Use System Restore: If your system recently started blue-screening, use System Restore to roll its system software back to a previous state. If this works, you’ll know that it’s likely a software problem.
  • Scan for Malware: Malware that digs deep into Windows and gets its hooks into the Windows kernel at a low level can cause system instability. Scan your computer for malwareto ensure buggy malicious software isn’t causing it to crash.
  • Install Updated Drivers: An incorrectly installed or buggy driver can lead to crashes. Download the latest drivers for your computer’s hardware from your computer manufacturer’s website and install them — this may fix BSODs caused by driver problems.
  • Boot Into Safe Mode: If your computer is blue-screening every time you turn it on, try booting into safe mode. In safe mode, Windows loads only the essential drivers. If a driver you’ve installed is causing Windows to blue screen, it shouldn’t do so in safe mode. You can work on fixing the problem from safe mode.
  • Check for Hardware Problems: Blue screens can be caused by faulty hardware in your computer. Try testing your computer’s memory for errors and checking its temperature to ensure that it isn’t overheating.
  • Reinstall Windows: Reinstalling Windows is the nuclear option. It will blow away your existing system software, replacing it with a fresh Windows system. If your computer continues to blue screen after this, you likely have a hardware problem.
In my next article i will be discussing a step by step process to of the above tips to solve BSOD errors.

POP-UPs ON DESKTOP AND BROWSERS

Hello friends another great news for us today, i know so many of us must have been suffering from some annoying adds that just popup when you are surfing the net, sometime when you are working on your system you see different applications popping up from every angle of your computer, sometimes it pops up from your browser frustrating your day to day activity.
Have you ever wondered what could be the course of this harmful and annoying popups? Well today am going to be telling the causes of this popups and possible solutions.

If you’re not running your Web browser and are still getting pop-up ads on your desktop, you’ve most likely installed adware—a program that displays unwanted ads. Although benevolent adware exists, most of the time adware is up to no good. Getting rid of it isn't easy. “There’s a ton of little system-utility tools out there that promise to clean up everything, with names like PC Speed-up, PC Speed Pro, PC Speedifier,” Geek Squad’s Meister says. “A lot of times those programs are not going to do much. Some programs will work, others are snake oil.”

Please Note: Avoid downloading programs that offer to speed up your PC or clean up your registry. Instead, use a trustworthy adware scanner like the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware tool.

Running a full scan with credible antivirus software is your first step. If that program doesn’t find and remove the adware, turn to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free, a great utility for removing all types of malware. Just make sure to disable your standard antivirus software before running it.

Manual Way Of Solving PopUp Issues:
A very good tip is when you notice a popup on your browser dont be frightened, seat back relax and follow the bellow steps to solve the issues.

On Chrome Browser:

  1. Look at the popup add closely, you will notice something like: addsby!! the name attached to the addsby is what you will search for the the chrome extension.
  2. At the top right panel where see a drop-down menu
  3. Scroll down to settings click on it
  4. Under the Chrome menu locate Extensions
  5. Then locate the name of the add and uninstall it.
  6. Restart your browser
On Mozilla:

he usual method for uninstalling extensions and themes is by using the Add-ons manager for your Mozilla application, as follows.
  1. Click "Tools -> Add-ons"
  2. Click on "Extensions" or "Appearance" ("Themes" in Firefox 3.6).
  3. Click on the extension or theme you want to uninstall.
  4. Click "Remove" ("Uninstall" in Firefox 3.6).
  5. Restart your Mozilla application.

Some addons install themselves as an application software on your computer, while some install as script on your computer. To remove such adds please follow the step by step solution:
  1. From your windows desktop click on start
  2. Control Panel
  3. Programs and features
  4. then locate the addon app among the apps installed on your computer
  5. Rightclick on the App and Uninstall.
What if its stored as a Script:
  1. From your Desktop
  2. Locate Search
  3. Search for the addon name in the search
  4. It will direct you to where the script is stored
  5. Just Rightclick the folder and Uninstall.
I hope this piece benefits you today, kindly share as much as possible for you dont know who this may benefit.

Please Note: I Basedave srongly recommends connecting with tech support for “any problems that you aren’t comfortable addressing personally.” When in doubt, it’s better to steer clear of voiding a warranty or potentially damaging your system. “Being aware of your own skill set and limitations is important,” says Basedave, because “it’s often easy to make matters worse.” If you think the problem is too complicated, call up a more knowledgeable friend, or bite the bullet and work with a professional tech support service like me.

How to Make Your Computer Run Faster

Is your computer slowing down, gets you angry like you should smash it on the floor ? Before you spend hundreds or even thousands on a new computer, you may find it only takes a few simple steps to make your Windows or Mac computer run faster.
1

Back up your computer.
Many of us have what feels like our entire lives stored on our computers--photos , Music, school work, tax returns and, more and more, everything we need to do our work . Before making any major changes, it is always a good idea to back up essential files.
  • Purchase an external hard drive that is larger than the hard drive you want to backup. Inserting the USB of the external hard drive should automatically prompt your computer to give you the option to use the drive for back up. I will be doing an article on how to backup your computer soon. Just stay tuned with this blog.
  • If you are worried about losing or damaging an external hard drive, you can back up important files online. Subscribe to a secure back up service (like Carbonite or SOS Online Backup, Google Drive, Dropbox. etc.). You can set your computer to back up to the cloud on a schedule or even every time you make a change to a file.
2

Restart your computer. This can temporarily speed up a slow computer by refreshing the memory. Restart, or completely shut down the computer, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Make sure you save any projects you are working on before turning off your computer!
3

Check your hard disk space first.
Go to My Computer, right-click Local Drive, then click Properties. There you'll see a pie chart of your free versus used space. If the disk is mostly full, you will need to remove programs and files; if there's still plenty of room, there may be something wrong with your operating system.
  • As a rule, you want to keep at least 15% of the hard disk space free to keep the computer running smoothly.
  • If you find you simply need more space, consider buying and installing a Solid State Drive (SSD) to complement or replace your hard disk. They are faster and much more secure than hard drives.
4

Remove any programs you do not use.
Go to Control Panel, then click Add or Remove Programs (or "Uninstall a Program", depending on your operating system) to find a master list of programs installed on your computer. Some things will strike you as useless immediately, in which case you can remove them right away. Others won’t look familiar to you and may require some research.
  • It may help to see how often you use the program. If you right-click one of the column titles above your program list, you should be able to add additional characteristics by which to organize your programs. Check Last Used On and a column displaying the last time you used each program will appear. This will quickly show you which programs you use frequently and the ones you haven't used in years.
  • Don't forget to empty your recycling bin.
5

Change the power plan of your desktop computer to High Performance.
Go to the Control Panel and select Power Options. You will find a list of power plans, usually Balanced, Power Saver, and High Performance. These settings control how your computer uses power--either by lowering performance to optimize battery life, maximizing performance with major power consumption, or a balance between the two. Selecting High Performance may increase the speed and overall performance of your computer.
  • This is only helpful if you have a desktop PC--using the High Performance setting on a laptop will drain your battery power.
6

Remove any unnecessary entries from the Windows Context Menu.
The context menu is the menu that pops up when you right-click something. Sometimes programs will ask to be added to the menu, others will add themselves automatically. To remove programs, press  Win+R to open the Run box. Type in regedit and click OK.[6] Click HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT → * → shellex → ContextMenuHandlers. From this list, delete the applications you don't want to be included in the context menu.
  • Be extremely careful whenever editing something using the Registry, as using it incorrectly can damage your system. If you're not comfortable using regedit, try searching for freeware that will allow you to edit your Context Menu.
7

Install an anti-virus program, spyware scanner, and an anti-malware.
The fewer bugs, viruses, and bits of adware your computer has to manage, the more time it will have to devote to other processes.
  • Keep Windows up-to-date. Not only will this keep Windows itself running smoothly, but some viruses ride in on Windows updates that are downloaded long after the update is available (and therefore are not monitored as closely).
8

Run a Disk Cleanup.
This can clean up hundreds of megabytes by deleting temporary files, unnecessary system files, and emptying your recycling bin. Click My Computer, right-click Hard Drive, then click Properties. Click Disc Cleanup (within the General tab). A window will pop up asking which files you'd like to remove. Check those you wish to delete and run the cleanup.
  • You'll want to keep any game files (unless you want to delete your saved games) and setup files.
  • If you have multiple drives or a partition, you must select the one you want to be cleaned.
9

Run a Disk Defragment.
When data is fragmented, your computer must search for the fragments of files that could be spread all over your hard drive. Defragmenting will organize your data and free up space so your computer can access data faster.Click My Computer, then right-click Hard Drive. After you have right-clicked, click Properties, Tools, then click Defragment Now.
  • Fragmented data can be on your hard disk or removable drives, like USB and flash drives.
10

Disable visual effects.
There are 20 visual effects you can turn off or on. To turn off all effects and maximize performance, click Control Panel, System, then click Advanced System Settings. Select the bullet which says "Adjust for best performance".
  • If you don't want to sacrifice all the visual flair, try selecting the option which says, Let windows choose what's best for my computer.
11

Add RAM to your computer.
To see if you need more RAM, initialize the Windows Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. Under the Performance tab, find the area devoted to Physical Memory (MB). If the number next to "Available" is less than 25% of the Total MB, you may need to add RAM.
  • Adding more memory may not necessarily make your computer run faster. If your computer is slow to switch between windows or tasks, or if you often have many browser tabs open at once, additional RAM may help.
  • You can take your computer to an expert to add RAM, like the Geek Squad at Best Buy, or you may decide to add more RAM yourself. Just be sure to do your research before attempting to do it on your own.
12

Remove gadgets you don't use. Right-click on the desktop and click Gadgets. Right-click on the gadget you wish to delete and click Uninstall.
